USE AND IMPORTANCE

Premama Duo … preconception, pregnancy and breastfeeding

Premama Duo is a pregnancy supplement which contains vitamins, minerals and Omega 3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA). It is specially formulated to help your body prepare for pregnancy, and to meet increased nutritional requirements both during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Trying for a baby...

It is essential for the future mother’s body to be prepared for a healthy pregnancy.

The first few weeks of pregnancy after conception are crucial to the development of baby’s organs, and it is not uncommon that a woman is still not aware she is pregnant in this period.

A healthy diet is important for obtaining necessary nutrients to prepare your body for pregnancy, but despite all the efforts, relying only on diet might not be enough. It is therefore important to start taking Premama Duo as soon as you start trying for a baby.

Pregnancy...

4 This is a period of intense development of baby’s body, and increased need for energy and nutrients both for the mother and the baby. There is no need for “eating for two”, but providing the right nutrition instead.

Besides a regular and healthy diet, taking Premama Duo every day helps you obtain the most important micronutrients necessary for supporting a healthy pregnancy and development of your baby.

Breastfeeding...

Probably most mums will opt for breastfeeding their babies. As much as being one of the most beneficious and beautiful things you can do for your baby and yourself, it can also be nutritionally challenging since the first few months of their life your baby will probably be dependent only on the nutrition received from breastfeeding.

1 Energy and nutrition requirements increase during breastfeeding as well, not only because of providing proper nutrition for the baby, but both for supporting the mother’s body and energy levels so important for this period.

KEY INGREDIENTS

PREMAMA DUO ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE

Folic acid

1, 2 Folic acid is especially important for women planning pregnancy and pregnant women, since low maternal levels of folic acid are a serious risk factor for the development of fetal neural tube defects. The neural tube forms baby’s brain and spinal cord, essential to the nervous system.
2 It is recommended that 400mcg of folic acid are taken before conception and throughout first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Vitamin D

1 Vitamin D promotes normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body, and also maintains the necessary level of calcium in the blood, important for healthy teeth and bones.
2 It is recommended that pregnant women should take 10mcg of vitamin D daily, in order to maintain adequate vitamin D stores during pregnancy and breastfeeding, important both for the mother and the baby. This is especially important for women who are housebound or confined indoors for long periods.

Iodine

1 Iodine contributes to the production of hormones of the thyroid gland, and also supports its functioning.
3 It is essential for the development of healthy brain and nervous system during gestation and early life of the newborn. Iodine requirements increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding, therefore it is important that pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers have an adequate intake of iodine, which is easily obtained through supplementation, like taking Premama Duo.

Iron

1 Iron contributes to the formation of red blood cells and oxygen transport in the body, and also contributes to the normal metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
3 Iron supplementation can be beneficial in preventing anemia, which is common in pregnant women.

Vitamin C

1 Vitamin C is important for the normal function of the immune system and contributes to the absorption of iron in the body. It helps reduce the symptoms of tiredness and fatigue women often have during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid)

1 DHA is a very important ingredient of Premama Duo, for it has been scientifically proven that 200mg of docosahexaenoic acid intake by the mother contributes to normal brain and eye development of the fetus and the breastfed baby.

To obtain sufficient amounts of DHA pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers are advised to consume oily fish like salmon, trout, sardines or mackerel, or to simply provide it through supplementation, such as Premama Duo.
